There is a real opportunity here for sponsors to build a relationship with a young Academy athlete who may turn out to be the next Jason Leonard or Will Greenwood and repay a sponsor's support many times over!

As the Academy Manager, I know how much these young Academy players would appreciate, for example, the opportunity of part-time flexible work to supplement their Academy bursary, or assistance with personal transport, or a grant towards their living expenses.

There are many ways in which young Academy players can be helped but at this stage there is little or no commercial benefit that would accrue to the sponsor other than an acknowledgement in every matchday programme and the satisfaction of playing a part in the development of a player who may well go on to play for Harlequins and perhaps play international rugby in the future.

Rob Buchanan, Will Collier, Sam Twomey and Charlie Matthews have all been selected in the England U20 Elite Player Squad.
The 32-man group will compete in the Under 20 RBS 6 Nations in the New Year before heading for the IRB Junior World Championship in Italy next June.

A Quins Under 17 academy side, composed mainly of Under 16 players and on the back of only two training sessions made a good account of themselves at the Academy Under 17 Tournament on Friday.

An exciting selection of players from our talented Under 16 and Under 17 EPDG group have been chosen to represent Quins on Friday August 13th at an under 17 Academy Cup.
