The Senior Club

Harlequin Amateurs was set-up after the sport turned professional to foster the great tradition of amateur Harlequin rugby. The club colours are the same famous quartered shirts we all know and love. Harlequin Amateurs are based in Teddington, a spiritual home of Harlequin FC (if you know your history!). The club has access to superb facilities provided by St. Mary's University College at Waldegrave Road and Broom Road.

We finished 4th in the very competitive Herts/Middx 1 last season and we will be looking to build on this and fulfill our current ambition to play in the London Leagues.. We aim to run 3 teams most weeks and we also have a very active vets sides for the over 35's!

The Club has attracted lot's of new players, drawn to the club by our excellent facilities, quality coaching and thriving social calendar.

NEW THIS SEASON - UNDER 14 YOUTH TEAM

Following last season's highly successful introduction of mini-rugby, the under 12's are now moving in to youth rugby as the under 13's squad.

Due to public demand the club will also be introducing this season an under 14's side. So if you know someone who qualifies for this age group and would like to play in the famous Harlequins colours next season then contact: play@harlequinrugby.co.uk

Mini Rugby


2009/10 sees the next exciting development for Harlequin Amateurs, with the launch of a mini rugby section called SIMMSQUINS. This is a joint venture with St. Mary's University, who continue to be a major contributor to the ongoing success of the senior club.


From September through to April, the mini section will introduce young people from 5yrs - 12yrs to our wonderful sport. Sessions will be held every Sunday from 10:00 - 12:00 at Broom Road, Teddington (opposite the TV Studios / Lensbury Club).


Our "mini adventure" will be run under the St. Mary's SIMMSPORT programme which has been used successfully with other sports by St. Mary's to provide a link between students at the university and the local community. This new partnership will see mini rugby available for the 1st time in the iconic Harlequin colours and will, we hope, in time lead to the development of some great young rugby talent as well as providing an opportunity for St. Mary's students to graduate with RFU recognised coaching qualifications. Parents will also be welcome to come along and work alongside the Harlequin Amateurs players and St. Mary's students in developing their coaching skills. Everybody is welcome!
