Harlequins Community Team continuously strives to develop new innovative and exciting experiences for children that help promote the game of rugby to young children and their families.

The Community Scheme has encouraged children from all over the UK to become regular visitors to the Twickenham Stoop to continue to participate in the exciting sport of Rugby Union.

The Community Team at Quins began its campaign back in September 2000, and since its inception has gone from strength to strength. The team now has links with over 50 Junior Rugby Clubs and a greater number of schools throughout the South East. The programme is widely regarded as one of the best in top flight rugby and in recent years has gained numerous awards.

	Richard Varney Head of Community Richard joined Quins in September 2001 having worked previously as Richmond Borough's Sports Development Officer. He has an excellent understanding of the local community and how the structure of sport operates through National Governing Bodies, Sport England and Local Authorities. 	Ben Thurlow Community Development Manager Ben joined Quins in July 2007 from London Irish, where he was Community Rugby Coach for four seasons. 	Gerald Kelly Community Marketing & Sales Executive Gerald joined Quins in September 2009 from Wycombe Wanderers FC where he worked as a coach for four seasons. He also has a degree in sports management and many years of experience in community sport via his delivery of community football programmes. 	Brian Holland Community Rugby Coach Brian has been working as one of the Community match day staff for over two years and is now the clubs full time CRC. A Level 2 coach and qualified referee Brian has been involved with mini and youth rugby for many years and is still very active in the rugby community every week. 	Tom Williams Elite Player Development Officer Tom joined Quins in 2009 and previously worked for the RFU as a Community Rugby Coach and also contributed to the Community Department at Quins for a number of seasons. Working with the Ernest Bevin school in London and NEC Tom's main focus is to create pathways for potentially elite players in London to receive the opportunities they deserve. Harlequins Child Protection Policy

Harlequins is fully committed to ensuring the well-being and safety of all young players who participate in activities organised by the club.

It is recognised that all coaches, administrators and medical staff who undertake activities on behalf of Harlequins acknowledge that they have a legal and moral responsibility to provide the highest standard of care to all young players and that all young players who participate in the activities organised by Harlequins are treated in a fair and equitable way.

This week, Harlequins community have coached over 50 children at the stoop. The children ranged from 6-16 years old and all came from different rugby playing backgrounds.

The Quins Coaching Clinics are offered to children of all abilities; from those who have never picked up a rugby ball, to those who would provide good competition for Ugo Monye. Look out for the newest camp, now available at Pulborugh in Sussex.
